Where is Mazda Made?

Many have asked us where Mazda is made. When it comes to production, there are Mazda manufacturers all over the world. A Mazda vehicle can come from various global plants; Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Russia, China, and Mexico. And coming in 2021 is a new Mazda production facility in the U.S. In partnership with Toyota, this Mazda production facility is to be built in Huntsville, Alabama and is expected to produce over 300,000 new Mazda vehicles a year.

A Short U.S. Production History

There have been Mazda plants in the U.S. before. The first located in Flint, Michigan between 1987 and 1992. Operations for Mazda car dealerships remain. Support for the U.S plants and Mexico plants include marketing, parts, and customer service. There’s a way to get what you need no matter where these plants are located.

What Does The Mazda Name Mean?

In 1931, the Mazda-Go auto-rickshaw was premiered. The Mazda name made an appearance by Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd. at the model reveal. However, it wasn’t until 1984 when the Mazda name became a part of the brand. The name came from two sources. A mixture of the Persian God, Ahura Mazda, meaning light, and wisdom. The second from the company’s founder, Jujiro Matsuda (pronounced “Mazda” in Japanese).
